FMC meets the Troxy!
An exciting celebration event for volunteering with FMC during BOXFIT for young females ,and males was a trip to the Troxy! As a treat, Sarah Robertson and Dawn Quye-Joyce invited us to a white collar boxing event in Limehouse, East London on the 1st of July 2011. I, Krystal Oakley, attended and kindly want to say a big thank you to both Sarah and Dawn. I really enjoyed myself meeting the boxers and having some photos taken but it’s a shame that Sarah and Dawn were not in them. It was a life time experience for me as I have never been to anything like this before and I was so eager to get into the ring myself. I realised that I would like to get into this more. Watching the boxers was really interesting and when they brought the young children into the ring aged between 6-11 years old it was amazing as they did pad work and it was similar to the project that we did and I would like to progress further with this. This event was a good choice as it brought FMC and volunteers closer and provided some time out of work hours to let down our hair and enjoy ourselves and have a laugh and we all did. Once again thank you Sarah and Dawn!
Kerryann Webb B stated;
‘I really enjoyed myself since I’ve been volunteering with FMC as Krystal Oakley introduced me into some of the projects and it has made me more ambitious of what I want to do.’ She also said ‘during the Boxfit project it was great I engaged with young people and even took part Sarah and Dawn are both wonderful people and great at their job. When I got invited to the white collar boxing I was excited to go as part as FMC crew as it brought us together and we had a laugh out of working hours and to meet all the boxers in the ring was great as now I know the experience of sparing, it was good to have pictures taken of us with some of the boxers seeing all different boxers females and males was wonderful and especially the young people aged between 6-11 years old they were really good and I could not believe that they are at the same stage what we was at so thank you Sarah and Dawn you put a smile on my face.’
Tayla Edwards, another volunteer said;
‘What can I say, apart from thank you to Sarah and Dawn for inviting me to go to the white collar boxing. I was a bit late arriving there as I don’t travel that far but for me that doesn’t matter as I got the chance to see the boxers in the ring and had a laugh with the FMC crew as all we do is see each other in work so it doesn’t give us time to unwind, on this event we did. We had some photos taken with some of the boxers that I liked and really had a good time seeing the boxers sparing. Thanks.’
